Day Two - Columbia, Tennessee

We began the 16 team single elimination tournament as the number one seed from our pool. Our opponent was Training Camp out of Murfreesboro, TN.

Game 3: Post 34 - 11 Training Camp - 3

After a rocky start that included walking the first four batters of the game, Terran Cochran picked up another win in his first season of Post 34. Cochran got out of the first without allowing a run when he picked off the leadoff batter at first and then with bases loaded with the 2, 3, & 4 hitters, he struck out the fifth batter and the sixth batter flew out to right field.
In the bottom of the first, Garrett Stallings gave Post 34 a 3-0 lead when he hit a home run to straight away centerfield. Stallings' shot also scored Jacob Bush and Chase Fields who had reached on a walk and fielder's choice respectively.
Post 34 continued it's streak of scoring in every inning by scoring single runs in the 2nd and 3rd and three runs in the 4th and 5th. Post 34 came to bat in the bottom of the fifth needing three runs to end the game with the 8 run mercy rule. Austin Dickerson led off the inning with a walk followed by a single from Brandon Tubbs. After a walk to Blake Herren, Jacob Bush and Cameron Sanders both singled. Bush's single scored Jordan Cooley, who was running for Austin Dickerson. Sanders' single scored Tubbs and Herren giving Post 34 it's 3 runs and the 11-3 victory.
For the game, Jacob Bush was 2-3 with with two singles and a walk. Stallings was 2-2 with the home run and a single and he was hit by a pitch in his second time to the plate. Cochran threw all five innings allowing five hits and struck out 3.
On Sunday, Post 34 plays in the quarterfinal round against Middle Tennessee. The game is at 12:30 at Columbia State. Columbia State was the home of the Southeast Regional last season as well as 2004.

Following the game yesterday, our plan was to go to downtown Nashville but we decided to move that trip to Sunday night since there would be more going on with the Fourth of July celebration getting kicked off. Instead we ate at our normal place in the Columbia Mall, Bonanza Steakhouse. After dinner our plan was to go to Glow Golf, a putt-putt golf place inside the mall. Unfortunately since our trip to Columbia last summer, Glow Golf had closed. We decided instead to go to Galaxy Lanes and bowl a few games. A few of the guys had good games but the overall winner was our bus driver Bob Kimbrell who threw three games above 150. He told us he had not bowled since 1981. We think we were hustled.
